The PacWest Banked Slalom

About The Event

  • The inaugural PacWest Banked Slalom took place at The Summit at Snoqualmie April 2nd & 3rd, 2022. 
  •  The event is hosted by Marcel Dolak and Olivia Cayley. Marcel is a long time Summit at Snoqualmie native who made his first turns under Julie‘s chair over 30 years ago. He was the original Summit Syndicate member and has been a banked slalom contender for many years throughout the Northwest, with several  top finishes at Mt Baker’s Legendary Banked Slalom, The Bomber Banked Slalom, and the Slayride Banked Slalom. He is excited to help create an event that will be enjoyed at The Summit for years to come, and an event that that everyone young and old alike can look forward to. 
  •  Olivia Cayley is a local to The Summit at Snoqualmie, and has been involved with events at The Summit the last few years. She has a lot of passion for the area, and is excited to be a part of such a great event at her local mountain.  
  •  Summit East, formerly known as Hyak, Milwaukee Ski Bowl, and PacWest Ski Area, will be the location of the event. It was a place where snowboarding in the Northwest started out on a grassroots level. It was home to many contests over the years, such as the Good & Plenty Jam, Urban Circus Jumpfest, and many other events. It was the first location of a half pipe at The Summit, and many Northwest snowboard legends rode it including Craig Kelly, Jamie Lynn, Peter Line, and Todd Schlosser to name a few. Come join us for a great Snowboard event, live music, and a celebration of Pacific Northwest Snowboard Culture past and present.  
  • In those days there was a contingent of riders from Gig Harbor including Matt Cummins, who first came to PacWest with Mike Ranquet. and a group of others known as the PWHC. There was also an early snowboard school and shop, Aloha Snowboard Shop, and one of the early coaches was Matt Remine. Dave Lee and a lot of other Seattle riders frequented PacWest. Chris Shuler headed the Aloha Snowboard Shop/School. Learn about this history and more at the inaugural PacWest Banked Slalom.
